Piecing Together the Evidence on Social Norms and Violence Against Women

This booklet provides an overview of the current state of evidence on the drivers and contributing factors of violence against women and girls, focusing in particular on the role of social norms. It provides a summary of effective strategies for the prevention of violence against women and girls and of what works to change harmful, violence-supportive social norms.

The evidence presented in this booklet is informed by a strong feminist approach to preventing violence. The key message is that while we already have some evidence, we don't yet have all the answers. By sharing this knowledge, we hope to inspire and facilitate discussion around innovative approaches to preventing violence against women and girls.
