Anti-Slavery Policy
Purpose
EQI is committed to operating ethically, responsibly and with respect for human rights. While we are not required to report under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), we recognise the serious impact of modern slavery and are committed to preventing it in our operations and supply chains.
Our Commitment
We support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights and take all reasonable steps to ensure that we are not complicit in human rights abuses.
We are opposed to all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, servitude, child labour, debt bondage, deceptive recruiting, and human trafficking. We support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour and the effective abolition of child labour.
We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including employees, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other business partners.
Our Approach
To support this commitment, we will:
- Public commitment: Publicise our commitment on our website available at https://www.equalityinstitute.org/.
- Risk assessment: Take reasonable steps to assess potential risks of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains.
- Staff awareness: Provide staff with basic education about modern slavery to raise awareness and provide guidance on identifying and reporting concerns.
- Due diligence: Work with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical practices and transparency.
- Contractual controls: Include anti-slavery clauses in supplier and contractor agreements where appropriate.
- Grievance reporting: Establish a confidential process for staff to report modern slavery concerns.
- Regular review: Review this policy and our approach periodically to ensure it remains effective.
Reporting Concerns
Any employee, supplier or contractor who becomes aware of conduct that may amount to modern slavery is encouraged to report it promptly to Co-CEO Donna Davies by email to donna@equalityinstitute.org. Reports will be treated seriously, confidentially, and without fear of reprisal.
Responsibility and Review
Responsibility for implementing this policy rests with Co-CEO Donna Davies.
This policy will be reviewed every 12 months and updated as needed.
