Organisation Report: 2019-2023

This report reflects four transformative, challenging, and impactful years as we pursued our purpose: advancing gender equality and ending violence against women and girls.

Over this period, we launched our website and Five-Year Organisational Vision and Strategic Plan, partnered with the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector (Victoria), evaluated two primary prevention projects in the Northern Territory, hosted a special retreat in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), introduced our Equality at Work offering, and released our first e-learning course – Gender Equality Foundations.

We stand on the shoulders of feminist activists who have driven change for decades, and we exist within a broader ecosystem of organisations, individuals, and collectives committed to gender equality. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our team, consultants, partners, clients, funders, and community, whose dedication, collaboration, and support made this work possible.

As Audre Lorde reminds us, “Revolution is not a one-time event.” Activism is a verb, and this report is our way of pausing to reflect, celebrate achievements, and practise gratitude.

While these years brought unforeseen challenges, we prioritised strengthening EQI’s foundations, supporting our team, and building an impactful feminist organisation. Guided by our four interconnected strategies, and supported by our focus on organisational strengthening and staff wellbeing, this report highlights just some of the work we were honoured to lead and support in advancing gender equality and preventing violence against women and girls.
