Rante-rante ampe Marle and Urreye (Safe, Respected and Free from Violence) Evaluation Report and Summary
Findings from the evaluation provide critical evidence on the effectiveness of culturally grounded, community-led primary prevention programs. Results showed positive shifts in participants’ attitudes and knowledge, demonstrated the reach and influence of project media and resources, and highlighted the growth of a local primary prevention workforce.
These insights have significant implications for policy and practice. They reinforce the importance of resourcing Aboriginal-led approaches to violence prevention, embedding cultural knowledge at the centre of program design, and investing in workforce capacity. The evaluation underscores the value of long-term, community-driven prevention strategies to advance gender equality, reduce violence, and strengthen the skills of those working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contexts.
The land we live and work on always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land. We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and acknowledge the ongoing leadership role of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities in preventing violence against women. We also acknowledge Traditional Custodians of the lands where EQI works around the world.
