'Find the Joy' feminist leadership incubator

Our Work Activism

Katherine Lim / 13.11.2023

A space for women and non-binary people of colour to learn, lead and create transformative change, together.

Katherine Lim / 13.11.2023

Are you a woman or non-binary person of colour imagining a different kind of world? A world where everyone is celebrated; where we can all walk freely, without fear or exclusion; and where leaders walk through the world with courage and integrity, inside and out.

Introducing the ‘Find the Joy’ feminist leadership incubator, by The Equality Institute

An exciting new program for and by women and non-binary people of colour to learn and lead together. As one of the only incubators of its kind in Australia, it’s based on work we’ve been co-creating over the past few years supporting feminist activists and leaders. Because we believe that courage is found in community, and that the future is intersectional, values-led, and unashamedly feminist. Oh, and did we mention, joyful?

Together, it's time to...

let lived experience shine. We believe women and non-binary people of colour have the power to change the world – and that our diverse lived experiences are a leadership strength. Because, to paraphrase Audre Lorde, none of us are free, until all of us are free.

speak truth to power. Independent feminist movements are critical to achieving gender equality and ending violence against women and girls and an intersectional approach is key to drive inclusive and transformative change. It’s time to speak truth to power, and ensure everyone’s voices are heard.

lead differently. Traditional leadership models were never fit for purpose. So why are we still taught them? It’s time to redefine success, because how we lead matters.

level the playing field. We believe transforming unequal systems and structures and dismantling barriers is how we’ll achieve lasting change. To do this, feminist leadership, from the margins to the centre, is key.

It’s time for joy. In a period of unprecedented crises, how we show up in the world matters. It’s time to lead with a positive vision of power, which feels just as good as the change we create. Because what good is the revolution if you can’t dance?

Are you with us?

We’re looking for Naarm-based emerging and established changemakers to come together in a new feminist leadership incubator. Focused on deepening your intersectional feminist practice, activism and leadership, together, we’ll go deep into transformation, collective care and liberation, and incubate new ideas for a more equal and just world.
